Here Are 5 Designers We're Looking Forward To Seeing At LFDW 2017

The winds have blown the fashion season home to Nigeria after many of our local fashion talents have showcased all over the world from Paris to New York.

Lagos Fashion and Design Week is set to kick off this Wednesday at Eko Atlantic with a very exciting line up of new and veteran fashion designers. Every year the growth of the industry is evident as the new fashion calendar begins, showcasing the clothes and dictating trend for the upcoming season.

Off the announcement of the showcasing designers – and as excited as we are about the entire showcase – these are the five runway shows we are looking forward to the most this year at LFDW:

Clan

Veteran designer Deola Sagoe's diffusion line Clan always comes correct off and on the runway. They showcased at NYFW a few years ago and this will be their debut showing at LFDW. Their classic silhouettes are always a favourite and we are extra excited about their SS/18 collection!

Orange Culture

Orange Culture is no stranger to pushing boundaries on the runway. Last year, their showcase was one of the best from the entire season and we definitely want to see them top that this year!

Onalaja

To describe Onalaja's SS/17 collection in three words would be fierce, feisty and flawless. Quite literally flawless, as the models stormed the runway to Beyoncé's "Flawless" and as you can imagine, that was an experience! We wonder how much more black girl power the brand will bring this year!

Gert Johan Coetzee

Gert is the South African designer who is making most of our Nigerian celebrities look like princesses. His authoritative yet feminine designs have definitely been a favourite on Instagram, and we are definitely excited to see them live on the runway!

Lisa Folawiyo

Lisa Folawiyo’s SS17 collection was intricately feminine in the sense that it combined numerous aspects of menswear in a subtle and almost unnoticeable way. After having released a diffusion line J Label, we are excited to see whether it will tie into the SS/18 runway!
