Nigeria, with a population of over 186 million people, has been ranked as the number one African country with the highest number of internet users.
That's not necessarily good news though, because Nigeria is also the most populous country in Africa. So, we essentially came first because we are so many! And although we are so many who use the internet in Nigeria, the quality we are stuck with doesn't even crack the first three spots.
According to real-time statistics released by Internet live stats, The Seychelles, Morocco and South Africa the top list of countries in Africa with high quality access to the internet - and more than half the population of these countries have access to the internet.
Nigeria ranks fifth in the quality of internet access table, behind Tunisia and just before Kenya. Even though we have achieved relatively cheap data prices, the poor quality of the networks available is still a problem for internet users in Nigeria.
We still have quite a way to go as a continent, because only 9.8% of the world's internet users are in Africa – even though the continent is home to over 15% of the world's total population.
