While working at a bank two years ago, Udoka Uju stumbled upon a passion that would change the rest of her life forever: painting.
Since then she's become a social media favourite among young Nigerians – for excelling in a field dominated by men – and her brand, The Lady Painter, has been responsible for beautifying a ton of homes and offices around Nigeria.
Late last year, Udoka launched the Grab a brush, Colour a life project – which involves renovating and painting poorly-kept public schools within any local community in Nigeria, with the aim of giving the kids a more conducive learning environment.
Speaking on her website about what inspired the project, Udoka said:
"What led to this initiative is the desire to inspire lives positively using colours and patterns.
The goal of the each project is to beautify, giving our children a better learning experience, a colorful school environment and the opportunity to properly lead tomorrow."
Besides beautifying the schools, the project also provides information to the teachers and students on everything from basic health safety to the dangers of climate change.
