Nigerian-American actress, Yvonne Orji (the breakout star of acclaimed HBO comedy, Insecure), has signed a book deal for her faith-based advice book, Bamboozled by Jesus: How God Tricked Me Into the Life of My Dreams (and 20 Lessons I Learned Along the Way).
The book will see Orji interpreting biblical stories and metaphors to fit into current times. Yvonne has always been vocal about her faith, especially her decision to wait until marriage before having sex. Both of these things will be explored in the book.
Flatiron Books, Orji's publisher, describes Bamboozled by Jesus as "a frank and fresh advice book, filled with one woman's authentic journey to understand her life and the nuggets of wisdom she's uncovered along the way."
Throughout the book, Orji will use her signature brand of humour to cover 20 life lessons gleaned from her own experience, her family and the Bible, including how to save for a rainy day; building the ark before the flood; and thinking outside the box.
Orji has been having a particularly great year. She made her feature film debut in Night School, alongside Tiffany Haddish and Kevin Hart; she headlined the New York Comedy Festival; and her semi-autobiographical series, First Gen, is finally getting developed.
A release date has not been set for the book yet, but we cannot wait!
