Samuel Chukwueze’s club career keeps looking better with each passing day, and why not? The player has stolen the hearts of La Liga fans with his impressive form in Villareal, attracting a ton of interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs.
In fact, word on the street right now is that FC Barcelona is seriously interested in signing him as a replacement for Philippe Coutinho.
Coutinho, who is the most expensive player in Barça history, has been a glaring flop. So, it’s not surprising that the club doesn’t only want to get rid of him, but they also want to hand his number seven jersey to Chukwueze, who’s currently proving his mettle.
While Barça has reportedly placed a €100 million transfer price on Coutinho, Brila reports that they are willing to dole out €60 million (over N24 billion) to bring Chukwueze to the club – that’s almost double of his estimated value of €35 million.
However, we’re not sure Villareal is on the same page as Barça, as they are hoping to offer the 19-year-old a new deal. Well, we can't really blame them. He has been a shining star for the club, and they'd be foolish to let him go so soon.
