Cyclist Who Gave Trump Middle Finger Fired From Her Job

For the past week, a photo of a woman on a bike giving Donald Trump the middle finger has been making the rounds on social media.

On October 28, Juli Briskman was out cycling around Washington when the presidential motorcade passed her on the road – a moment which AFP photographer Brendan Smialowski happened to catch on film.

Today, it has emerged that the anti-Trump activist has been fired from her job as a result of the gesture.

In an interview with Huffington Post shortly after the incident, Briskman declared:

"He was passing by and my blood just started to boil. I’m thinking, Daca recipients are getting kicked out. He pulled ads for open enrollment in Obamacare.

Only one third of Puerto Rico has power. I’m thinking, he’s at the damn golf course again. I flipped off the motorcade a number of times."

Using the photo for her various profiles on social media, Briskman was hailed as a hero as the story spread online.

As an employee at a marketing and communications specialist she decided to alert her bosses to the attention she had been receiving. Despite this notice, however, she was later called into a meeting during which she was advised the company would be "separating" from her.

The firm, Akima, was said to be displeased that Briskman had violated their social media policy, saying the image could harm the company's reputation as a government contractor. As Briskman explains to the Huffington Post, the execs said:

"'Basically, you cannot have lewd or obscene things in your social media.' So they were calling flipping him off obscene."

Currently unemployed, Briskman is hoping to seek out a new career within an advocacy group like Planned Parenthood or PETA.
