If we all decide to wipe the weak genre experiment that was "Open And Close" from our collective memories, then it wouldn't be a stretch to call Simi one of the most consistently brilliant Nigerian musicians working today.
From her breakout hit "Tiff" to her most recent singl, "Joromi" , Simi's overall vision for her sound has been crystal clear. This is why we think her upcoming debut album will be one of the best of the year.
For the past couple of months, Simi's fans on social media have been hounding the singer-songwriter to reveal an album title, a tracklist and a release date. Well, Simi just came through with two of those three requests.
For the album name, Simi has gone the self-titled route with Simisola, and if it follows the trend of previous self-titled debut projects like Asa's Asa (2007) and Adekunle Gold's Gold (2016), then we fully expect it to be a stunner.
It's a 12-track album that will feature a collaboration with Adekunle Gold (expectedly) – and the remaining tracks will be solos. Simisola is set to drop on September 8.
