Feel-good songs can make you feel better from just the melody, the lyrics or the beat. The right song can put you in the right frame of mind to get out of bed and face the world– this is the feeling we got from Wani’s new single "Raining".
Nigerian musicians are no strangers to putting that token 'praise God' song (amongst their other shaky bum bum and maga don pay songs) on an album because y'know, we are a super religious bunch and everyone loves God.
Wani's "Raining", however, doesn't seem like a forced praise song, as the lyrics flow with gratitude even during tough times. He declares that "better times are coming", with an insert of what sounds like an oriki – a song parents sing to babies to stop them from crying. The quick up-tempo beat accompanies these lyrics well and makes for a nice feel-good jam.
As an adult, life really comes at you fast, and songs like this are necessary to lift you out of bad moods and such.
If you're having a bad day, this is your jam! Give it a listen:
