A few days ago, Simi finally revealed that her self-titled debut album, Simisola, will be dropping on September 8. To get us even more excited for the album's upcoming release, Simi just dropped her first single since the brilliant "Smile For Me" – the equally wonderful "Joromi".
For the Oscar-produced track, Simi channels Sir Victor Uwaifo's award-winning single of the same name; but unlike Sir Victor Uwaifo's "Joromi", which is a song about a love he has already earned, Simi's "Joromi" is a song about unrequited love.
The video, which was directed by Aje filmworks, shows Simi pulling out all the stops to get a guy – from intentionally forgetting her purse three times to pretending to sprain her ankle. And unlike the song, the video actually ends with her getting the guy.
With "Joromi" Simi proves once again that no one in our music industry can write a love song quite as well as she can. It's also extremely refreshing to see a young woman sing about pursuing a man she wants instead of waiting for him to come to her.
