Sarah Paulson To Play Sadistic 'Nurse Ratched' In Ryan Murphy's New Project

Sarah Paulson and Ryan Murphy, are a match made in creative heaven. After American Horror Story and American Crime Story, the duo is now launching another mad project (in more ways than one).

They want to explore the origins of Nurse Ratched, the antagonist from Ken Kesey’s One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, published in 1962.

Netflix jumped on the opportunity and did not hesitate to commit eighteen episodes over two seasons to the new show. It will have Ryan Murphy as executive producer (alongside Michael Douglas, who produced the original cult movie), Evan Romansky as creator and screenwriter and of course, you’ve guessed it, Sarah Paulson as headliner.

Paulson, currently starring in season 7 of American Horror Story, will play the oppressive nurse at the helm of the lunatic asylum. In Miloš Forman’s 1975 movie, starring Jack Nicholson, it was Louise Fletcher who played Nurse Ratched. We’re pretty sure the talented Paulson will be just as scary. It is a very alluring project that puts us in mind of Bates Motel, the series about Norman Bates and his mother Norma, played by the excellent Vera Farmiga.
