The world of the X-Men strikes again. Bryan Singer has convinced Fox to release a full season of The Gifted, the new Marvel series based on the mutant universe.
Singer was in charge of the pilot, and we get our first glimpse of his work in this first trailer, which reveals a lot more than the initial teaser. The new trailer follows the daily lives of the Strucker family as children Andy and Lauren discover their special gifts.
The government soon takes an interest in them and tries to capture them.
Classic though it may be, the mutant plot has drawn a lot of interest. The trailer on Fox's YouTube channel has already been viewed over 11 million times. If you count other platforms, the number skyrockets to 31 million.
Even so, the trailer for The Gifted is still far behind This is Us trailer, which got 50 million views in barely eleven days last year. Despite the plethora of shows being adapted from comics these days, superhero stories continue to hold a lot of fascination.
Unlike with Legion, which creator Noah Hawley chose to approach from a particularly original visual and narrative angle, The Gifted is firmly anchored in tropes of the X-Men universe.
The various mutant organizations will come into play in the series, and the powerful Blink and Polaris will also make an appearance. Stan Lee will even be making a cameo, as in any self-respecting Marvel production.
The cast includes a lot of familiar faces such as Stephen Moyer (Bill in True Blood), Amy Acker (Person of Interest), Natalie Alyn Lind (Gotham) and Emma Dumont (Aquarius).
Fox hasn't announced the official release date, but we expect the show some time this fall. In the meantime, we'll let you admire the new poster for the show below.
