Playboi Carti is somebody to watch this year. Named one of the most promising rappers of 2017 by XXL magazine, the freshman has just dropped a clip for his track "Magnolia."
Taken from his mixtape Playboi Carti (featuring the prestigious Lil Uzi Vert and A$AP Rocky), the track has earned him high praise from the hip hop community.
Lil Wayne recently posted a freestyle he did over the song, and Jay Z cited "Magnolia" as one of the tracks that inspired him when he was writing his latest album, 4:44. In fact, it's the only rap song that made it onto a list of classics ranging from Marvin Gaye to Jimi Hendrix, James Blake and Prince.
The raucous clip takes place in New York, where we find the rapper going about his day in fast forward, getting up to no good with A$AP Rocky.
Between club scenes, violence, arrests, and selling drugs, he depicts the daily life of a dealer using psychedelic, choppy visuals that stay true to the flow and ego trip of the song.
