A few months ago, it was announced that Seun Kuti & Egypt 80's fantastic album, Black Times, got nominated for a Grammy. Now, the afrobeat singer has announced that he will be performing at the Grammy Awards Premiere Ceremony, and clearly, he's as excited as we are.
A prelude to the main event, the premiere ceremony — where Grammys are awarded in over 70 different categories — is a pretty big deal, as it will include unforgettable presenters, performances, acceptance speeches and much more.
Black Times is easily the youngest Kuti's most confident album to date — maybe even more so than his brilliant 2014 LP, A Long Way to the Beginning, and we're glad that his music is gaining the recognition it deserves.
Even if it turns out that he doesn't win the award, this performance is still a big win for him, and we're feeling a great sense of national pride. Viewers will be able to live-stream Kuti's performance on February 10, and we're very hyped about this!
Until then, brush up on the album right here:
