A debut single is immensely important, as it can make or break a person's career. The first impression you make on an audience determines the likeliness of them warming up to your music, and for a few of our favourite Nigerian musicians, they drew us in right from the jump.

Wizkid stole our hearts with "Holla At Your Boy", and since then, his career has seen a meteoric rise. Tiwa Savage stormed on to the scene with "Kele Kele", and has since become the most important woman in the afropop scene.

Beyond the actual music, the significance of these breakout singles, is that they managed to pave the way for younger musicians to gain the confidence they needed to give music a shot, which has resulted in a lot of the fire we have out today.
