Five months ago, we raved about Efe Oraka's impressive two-minute mashup of 21 Jon Bellion songs – a mashup that was so stellar it caught the attention of Bellion himself, with the "All Time Low" singer declaring the performance "truly [moving]."
Since then, the 18-year-old singer has continued to wow us with brilliant covers of a varied selection of songs and mashups from all our favourite artistes. She most recently nailed a mashup of 15 Olamide songs in a minute!
From Kendrick Lamar to Davido
Efe, who has been in love with music since she was around six years old, has very broad and dynamic tastes – which explains why she can go from nailing a Kendrick Lamar mashup to totally owning a cover of Davido's "Fall".
Speaking with Konbini about when she realized music was what she wanted to do, Efe said:
"I think I knew when I was maybe 6. I'd always said I wanted to be a rockstar but it was around that age I started to understand what music was to me.
It was then I started to love it and it was then I decided that music was what I wanted to do with my life."
About how she picks the songs she covers, Efe continued:
"Most times it's just a really random thing honestly. I just think of an artiste I really like and run through their songs in the best and fastest way I can."
Not just covers...
Thankfully, Efe doesn't only do covers – she's way too talented for that. Last year, she released her own exceptional single, "Gbe Mi", and has been featured on a few other projects.
She is currently working on her debut EP, Magic, which is set to be released before the year runs out. According to Efe, the covers and mashups are just for practice because her music isn't quite ready yet.
Well, before she releases what's sure to be a brilliant EP, you can listen to her covers on her Instagram or listen to her single below:
