Teni has been hot on our radar ever since she burst onto the scene, and hardly ever disappoints with any release. It's definitely fair to say that she is the breakout star of 2018, and this is why she was well deserving of her 'Rookie of the Year' award at the Headies.
While it's commonplace for anything she does to immediately gain our attention, her feature on Jinmi Abduls' "Once Twice" — a standout off his JOLAG 2 EP — seems to have completely flown under the radar, and we're surprised, as it's her strongest vocal performance to date.
"Once Twice" is unlike anything we've heard from either artist, as they both stretch themselves to deliver a serious bop. Against a heavily syncopated beat, the pair sing, rather beautifully, about the ills of a relationship, as well as their own insecurities and shortcomings.
While we appreciate the fact Teni is able to deliver unabashed party-starters like "Askamaya", we would also love for her to give us more songs like this. And as for the wonderful Jinmi Abduls, we dream of a future when everyone is fully aware of how immensely talented he is.
