Earlier this year, the gifted afro-soul singer, Aramide enlisted Timaya for the infectious "Fall On Them" — the second single off her upcoming sophomore album. Now, she's taken us back to her debut album, Suitcase with a video for "Ayokunnumi", a triggering and affectionate bop.
Known for her penchant to evoke emotions with her melodious tunes, Aramide completely delivers on the Sizzle Pro-produced song. Unlike her other love songs, however, this one is rather bittersweet, and it doesn't leave you filled with joy like her other songs do.
She sings that she is happy that her lover, a soldier, has returned home from deployment, pressing on the feelings of despair she felt while he was away. It's unclear whether she means that he changed after going to war, or that he's actually physically absent.
The accompanying video evokes even more emotion, as Aramide sings despairingly while imagining that he's there with her. She wanders around a big field, with her lover lying next to her and eventually fading away, before he packs up a bag and returns to her at the end of the clip.
