We have absolutely no idea what the second half of 2017 holds for Davido, but we can all agree that the first half was certainly a great one for him.
His decision at the beginning of the year to go "back to basics" found him dropping one of his biggest – and best – tracks in a very long time, the addictive "If".
The R. Kelly remix we didn't need
"If" has been widely successful, not just here but internationally, so that explains why R. Kelly decided to hop on the song. We got a hint of the collaboration back in May when Davido shared a video on Instagram of himself rocking out excitedly to the snippet.
The reactions from Nigerians weren't positive, but that didn't seem to matter because here we are with a full version of an R. Kelly remix no one needed, wanted or asked for.
No matter what you think about R. Kelly (and we think he's disgusting), it's hard to deny that he is very talented and has managed to make a couple of songs a little better by simply hopping on them – Ciara's "Promise" and Beyonce's "If I Were A Boy" come to mind – but Davido's "If" will not be joining that list.
