After two first seasons which took their time to create intrigue and establish the psychology of the characters, the third installment provided us with plenty of dramatic moments. The patience of fans of Better Call Saul is set to continue to be rewarded, as we can glean from the initial images of Season 4.
Although this short 15-second teaser doesn't give much away about the story development in this new set of episodes, it does offer a glimpse of Victor (Jeremiah Bitsui), the henchman gorily sacrificed by Gus in the "Box Cutter" episode, as well as the manager of Los Pollos Hermanos, who seems slightly overwhelmed by events and explains to someone (but who?) over the telephone: "Now is not a good time".
Amid an exploding car and rising tensions, we also get a glimpse of the red boots of Leonel and Marco Salamanca (played by Daniel and Luis Moncada), aka The Cousins, taciturn members of the Juarez cartel who seem to have come straight out of a Tarantino film. We hadn't seen them since Season 2 of Better Call Saul, in which they appeared from time to time without a real role to play in the narrative.
And there's another big mystery: Vince Gilligan's announcement of the arrival of a very important Breaking Bad character this season. Will it be Jess, Walt… or someone else? The showrunner has made it very clear: the two worlds will overlap more than ever in this new season, which will arrive on Netflix on August 6.
