Toyin Abraham's 'Alakada' Is Being Made Into A TV Series

In 2010, Toyin Abraham sauntered onto our screens in Alakada, playing the pathological Yetunde Animashaun. Releasing two sequels in 2013 and 2017, Toyin Abraham clearly isn't ready to let go of the iconic character just yet, as she plans to bring Yetunde to the small screen in Alakada: The Sitcom.

The Alakada franchise follows the life of a young girl from a poor family, Yetunde (played to perfection by Toyin Abraham), who has developed an inferiority complex, believing the only way to rise above her situation is to fake it until she makes it.

Much like Funke Akindele's iconic Jenifa Diaries franchise-turned-sitcom, Alakada: The Sitcom, promises to bring us episode after episode of Yetunde's unfiltered comic relief, keeping viewers just as entangled in her web of lies as she is.

Written by Olukayode Aderigbigbe and Adekunle Sajawu, the series contains 26 episodes, so far, but no release date has been announced. Still, Toyin Abraham implores us to follow the sitcom's instagram page for the latest scoop regarding the upcoming masterpiece.
