After premiering in 1981, Dynasty quickly became one of the most acclaimed and successful shows on TV, running for 9 seasons and winning a bunch of awards including an Emmy and a bunch of Golden Globes.
Well, the deliciously campy show – which followed the trials and tribulations of the wealthy Carrington and Colby clans – is getting a modern day reboot from The CW and Nigerian-American actor, Sam Adegoke, is one of its leads.
Adekoge plays the charming Jeff Colby, a billionaire tech guru who fought his way up from humble beginnings. Once a mere underling at Blake Carrington’s company, Jeff is now his main rival.
If the reboot goes the way of most shows on The CW – think The Vampire Diaries, The Flash and Supernatural – then Adekoge is about to become a household name.
The road to his first major role
Born in Lagos but raised in Los Angeles, Sam landed his first big acting break when he was named the winner of the third annual ABC Discovers: Digital Talent Competition out of over 7000 submissions.
Since then he's been building up his resumé with guest roles in popular TV shows such as Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Criminal Minds, Switched at Birth and NCIS: Los Angeles. Along with his role in Dynasty, Sam will also star as one of the leads in Lifetime's Michael Jackson biopic.
