We all know how much Nigerians love their comedies, which explains why AY Makun's subpar films have been so successful. This is why it's so impressive that Kemi Adetiba's sophomore film, King Of Boys has become the fourth highest grossing Nollywood film of all time.
Since its release, the acclaimed King Of Boys has been breaking a ton of Nollywood records. Now that it has made over ₦200 million at the box office — an unprecedented feat for a Nollywood drama — it's by far the most successful non-comedy Nollywood film of all time.
The film has retained the number 1 spot for seven straight weeks, making it the longest running number 1 film in Nollywood. Well, making history is not new to Kemi Adetiba, as her debut, The Wedding Party was also a record-shattering success upon its release.
From Sola Sobowale's AMVCA-worthy lead performance to Reminisce's masterful acting debut, King Of Boys is certainly the best Nollywood film of the year, and if you still haven't gotten the chance to see it yet, you better rush to the cinemas as soon as you can.
