John Boyega's 2019 is looking stacked. Not only is starring in his third Star Wars movie, Star Wars: Episode IX and a sci-fi romance with Letitia Wright, Hold Back The Stars, he's now in negotiations to play the lead in a upcoming legal drama, A Naked Singularity.
The movie is based on Sergio De La Pava’s debut novel of the same name, which centers on Casi, a New York public defender whose life begins to unravel after he loses his first case. An attorney himself, De La Pava self-published the book, which was met with acclaim.
The film adaptation will be written by David Matthews (Narcos, Vinyl, Tyrant), directed by Chase Palmer (a co-writer for 2017's horror hit, It), and produced by Ridley Scott’s Scott Free Productions. The movie is set to start shooting in 2019.
While we adore Boyega's sci-fi work — from his breakout role in Attack The Block to his charismatic turn in Pacific Rim Uprising — we are really glad to see him doing more dramatic work, especially following his Oscar-worthy turn in Katheryn Bigelow's Detroit.
