John Boyega & Letitia Wright To Play Lovers In Sci-Fi Drama, ‘Hold Back The Stars’

Thanks to their standout work in sci-fi hits, Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Black Panther, John Boyega and Letitia Wright are now two of the hottest rising stars in Hollywood. So, it comes as no surprise that they’ve now been cast to star in an upcoming sci-fi love story, Hold Back The Stars.

Adapted from Katie Khan’s novel of the same name, Hold Back The Stars centers on a man and a woman who revisit memories of their love affair on a utopian Earth while they are trapped in the vast void of space with only 90 minutes of oxygen.

Already being dubbed "Romeo & Juliet meets Gravity", Hold Back The Stars is a particularly exciting movie because it inserts two charismatic black stars into a hybrid of genres that would typically exempt them: romance and science fiction.

The film is set to be directed by Mike Cahill, the filmmaker who rose to prominence in 2011 with his award-winning independent sci-fi drama, Another Earth. While no release date has been announced for Hold Back The Stars, consider us officially hyped and eager.
