After the raging success of Deadpool, some of us were left wondering how the hilarious, ultra-meta flick could possibly live up to itself with a sequel. Well, looking at the teasers unveiled so far for Deadpool 2, we'd say Ryan Reynolds and the gang might have just managed it.
Today, the movie has revealed its a new trailer which finally introduces Josh Brolin's villain Cable – when the visual effects start working properly, that is. In classic Deadpool style, the trailer is paused while someone fixes the CGI on Cable's arm and the gang drops a zinger at Justice League's whole moustache debacle.
Beyond the usual laughs, the images are also jam-packed with plenty of punching, kicking and shooting as the team prepare for battle. Mixing up trash humour with serious (and less serious) fight scenes, it looks like Fox has nailed it. As a reminder, here's the official synopsis:
"After surviving a near fatal bovine attack, a disfigured cafeteria chef (Wade Wilson) struggles to fulfill his dream of becoming Mayberry’s hottest bartender while also learning to cope with his lost sense of taste.
Searching to regain his spice for life, as well as a flux capacitor, Wade must battle ninjas, the yakuza, and a pack of sexually aggressive canines, as he journeys around the world to discover the importance of family, friendship, and flavor – finding a new taste for adventure and earning the coveted coffee mug title of World’s Best Lover."
The movie will also see Domino (Zazie Beetz), Vanessa (Morena Baccarin), Weasel (TJ Miller), Blind Al (Leslie Uggams), Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hildebrand) and Colossus (Stefan Kapičić).
You can catch Deadpool 2 in theaters from May 18.
