In something of a first, the third film in the Cloverfield franchise – the first trailer of which was revealed a few short hours ago at the Super Bowl – is already available on Netflix across the world. Entitled The Cloverfield Paradox, the marketing trick seems to have paid off with news of the release blowing up in the media.
A prequel to J.J. Abrams' 10 Cloverfield Lane, the movie, from screenwriters Oren Uziel and Doug Jung, is directed by Julius Onah. Here's what it's about, according to the official film synopsis:
"A crew aboard a space station finds itself alone after a scientific experiment causes the Earth to disappear. When a space shuttle appears, the space station's crew must determine if it is carrying friends or foes."
Following the massive critical failure of its latest movie Bright, Netflix seems keen to get the film to the public before any sharp-tongued journalists get a chance to give it a bad rap. You can check out The Cloverfield Paradox right this very second on Netflix.
