On December 29, Black Mirror brought us creeping into the New Year at our binge-watching best with the release of its fourth season.
Kicking off with "USS Callister", a kind of Star Trek-homage episode, the dystopian series managed to find a new way to surprise us by planting a few well-known personalities throughout the instalment.
Beyond featuring Michaela Coel (Chewing Gum) and Cristin Milioti (How I Met Your Mother) in the leading roles, dedicated fans of the small screen may have also recognized Jesse Plemons from Friday Night Lights or Breaking Bad.
But that's not all, because accompanying the series veterans were a few unexpected faces from Hollywood royalty in blink-and-you'll-miss-it parts. At the start of the episode, the main characters are seen deep in discussion at the Callister offices while none other than Kirsten Dunst casually strides past.
As it goes, Dunst's gatecrashing cameo isn't as random as it may first appear given that her fiancé is Jesse Plemons (you might have seen them star together in Fargo). But still, kudos to the casting directors.
Finally, at the end of the chapter, Gamer691 is heard demanding, "Are we gonna blow each other or are we gonna trade?" to the A1 crew. While he doesn't actually appear on screen, the voice in question belongs to Aaron Paul who, incidentally, also appeared on-screen with Plemons in Breaking Bad.
Black Mirror season four is available in full on Netflix. Keep the Easter eggs coming!
