Six French engineers have managed to capture the convenience of taking photos with your smartphone, and merged it with the beauty of receiving a physical Polaroid product.
The outcome has been dubbed Prynt, and it allows users to create physical copies of images taken on your smartphone device – all within the space of 30 seconds.
Polytechnician and one of Prynt's designers Clément Perrot explains to French publication L'ADN how Prynt is different from other similar projects:
"At the moment, there are two types of products in competition: on the one hand there are the evolutions of the old Polaroid cameras which have become a bit 'digitised', but they remain tools in their own right in addition to the smartphone.
The second type of tool that has been developed is more like a miniature printer, but it's not as easy to use; the experience is not there."
One of the more interesting and unique features of the device includes the ability to embed a video into a physical image, meaning when you scan over it, the image comes to life.
Even better than bringing images to life, there's no need for wi-fi or other technology to make Prynt do its thing: it simply works with an application.
So far, the Samsung Galaxy S4 and S5, iPhone 5, 5C, 5S and 6 are all compatible with the new gadget, with plans to broaden the accessibility of the tool in the months to come.
