Finn Wolfhard's Band 'Calpurnia' Drop Animated Clip For New Song 'Louie'

Between seasons of Stranger Things, Finn Wolfhard and his rock group Calpurnia are preparing for the release of their first EP, Scout.

Although it won’t be long before he begins filming the role of Mike again in season 3, the young actor and singer is making the most of this time to release the video for the band’s singles.

Following the jangle pop single "City Boy", now it’s the turn of the more surf rock "Louie", a track produced by Cadien Lake James of Twin Peaks (the group, not the series) to be illustrated in an animated video.

In a press release, guitarist Ayla Tesler-Mabe explains how "Louie" is a "lively, colorful" composition. Colin Croom and Cadien Lake James of Twin Peaks also lent Calpurnia a hand, the former on the piano and the latter providing backing vocals.

The track tells the story of a guy who’s always leaving his girlfriend. A musical vision filled with a certain poetry for teenagers aged around fifteen.

In terms of inspiration, the blues of the Rolling Stones pervades Calpurnia’s "Louie", with a guitar riff reminiscent of Keith Richards in the early years of the mythical group.

The release of their EP, distributed by the label Royal Mountain Records (Mac Demarco, Alvvays), is scheduled for June 15 2018. Calpurnia will play in Atlanta, Los Angeles, Montreal and Hamilton in Ontario in the coming months. Perhaps we’ll see them in Europe next year…
