It's no surprise to anyone anymore, The Simpsons are basically the Nostradamus of the 21st century. Among their most recent predictions, there's been Donald Trump's presidency, and Lady Gaga's Superbowl performance.
According to some fans, the little family from Springfield also predicted the result of one of the most mediatized sporting events of our time – the boxing match between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor.
The prediction comes to us from late 1996 in the "The Homer They Fall" from season 8, where Homer decides to become a professional boxer after discovering he can hit like a boss and is impossible to knock out.
Under the tutelage of Kid Moe, Homer wins several fights by wearing out his opponents in the first rounds (are you starting to see the similarities?) before knocking them out.
In the end, Homer fights the fierce Drederick Tatum, a parody of Mike Tyson, and gets massacred before being saved at the last minute by Moe.
So basically, Homer represents McGregor and Drederick is Mayweather, and several iconic scenes from the episode look almost exactly the real-life fight. See for yourself below.
The final reconciliation (which was not planned in advance, of course) between "Money" and the Irishman were also predicated in another animated show. The testosterone-filled versions of Sponge Bob and Patrick also hugged after an intense combat, like true champions. Thanks, cartoons.
