Made up of just eleven thirty-minute-long episodes, it feels as though Atlanta season two went by in a flash. Worse still, there still hasn't been any official confirmation that we'll get a third season at FX. Nonetheless, that doesn't seem to stopping Donald and Stephen Glover from working on new scripts for Earn, Paper Boi, Darius and co.
The information doesn't come directly from the source but from actor Zazie Beetz, who plays Van in the show. In full promo mode for Deadpool 2 (she plays mutant Domino), Beetz revealed to Digital Spy that Donald Glover has already been pitching her ideas for season three.
"There totally has been [talk]," she confirmed. "I don't think we've gotten greenlit for it yet, but we talk about it amongst ourselves a lot." She then continues:
"I'm pretty sure they have some scripts written, and there are also some ideas in a certain direction they want to go. I know Donald has asked me what I think about this or that. I think they want to start shooting in January. But, as far as I know, we haven't been greenlit yet. So who knows?"
Since the series began, the show's cast has gone from strength to strength in Hollywood. While Zazie Beetz continues to star in the X-Men Cinematic Universe, Donald Glover has featured in Solo: A Star Wars Story and will provide the voice of Simba in the upcoming Lion King remake.
Lakeith Stanfield appeared in major productions Death Note and Get Out last year, while Bryan Tyree Henry is set to star alongside Matthew McConaughey in White Boy Rick, before picking up a role in Steve McQueen's Widows. Here's hoping the busy team manages to find time to schedule in a third season of Atlanta.
