Yesterday you may have noticed that instead of the cloudy grey skies that we're used to this time of year, the sky was giving off a jaundiced, yellowy haze. As if someone had forgotten to take of the sepia filter on their Instagram.
The yellowy hue and the rather sinister reddish sun had people sharing photos and likening the scene to films like Blade Runner: 2049, Mad Max: Fury Road and of course the planet of Tatooine from Star Wars.
It's true that the sky was an apocalyptic yellow for most of the afternoon, due to sands swept up in the Sahara by storm (formerly hurricane) Ophelia.
Well who needs Blade Runner anyway. Brighton, 14:49. pic.twitter.com/YH01JYM9hv— Finn Hopson (@FinnHop) 16 October 2017

I don't want to say the apocalypse is coming, but the sky over London looks very Mad Max. pic.twitter.com/17MW0ddPiw— Suzy Grant (@Flooozie) 16 October 2017
