The meteor fell on Chelyabinsk, a city situated in the west side of the Ural region and videos were taken by citizens. This meteor fall has reportedly injured 400 persons, no major injuries are being reported. It’s very impressive. How to explain such an unexpected phenomenon? Apparently, a large meteor partially burned up in the lower atmosphere, resulting in fragments falling earthwards.

People mainly got hurt because of the meteor shockwaves that blew windows out and also building. You can see these huge lights falling from the sky and hear the explosions thanks to local resident videos, but also thanks to cameras fixed on cars which is a very common thing in Russia. Many of those videos are available to watch on youtube. It’s unbelievable; looks like we’re in a movie.

Viktor Prokofiev, a 36-year-old resident of Yekaterinburg in the Urals mountains, reported:

“I was driving to work, it was quite dark, but it suddenly became as bright as if it was day,”
